Hi, we're Siva and Gajen.

We started Measure Twice Home Services after years of doing this kind of work on the side, for family, for neighbours, and eventually for enough people that it made sense to do it properly. We're based in Whitby and take on jobs across Durham Region, with select projects further into the GTA.

We both handle the hands-on carpentry and repair work, including custom closets, cabinet installs, and everything in between, with a focus on getting the details right before work starts: accurate measurements, a clear quote, and materials that match what was agreed on, so there are no surprises partway through the job.

Between us, we've been doing this hands-on work for years, closets, built-ins, general repairs, the kind of jobs you see throughout this site. What we bring on top of that is something you won't find on most handyman websites: a corporate background. Siva spent his career in retail pricing strategy, Gajen in banking. We mention it because of what it means for you: we know how to build a quote that's accurate the first time, not one that grows once the walls are open. We're comfortable with numbers, contracts, and follow-through, because that's what our day jobs demanded of us long before this one did. And because client communication was part of both our careers, you can expect the basics that shouldn't be rare but often are: we show up when we say we will, we answer messages, and if something changes mid-job, you'll hear it from us before you notice it yourself.

We run this alongside full-time jobs, so we take on projects evenings and weekends, which means we're not rushing between five jobs a day. You get our full attention for the time we've booked, and a quote that isn't padded to cover a packed daytime schedule. Because this isn't the only thing paying our bills, we don't need to charge you an arm and a leg to make it worthwhile, this is something we do out of genuine interest in the work, not out of financial necessity. That's one of the real differences between us and a full-time contractor: you still get professional-quality workmanship, just without the overhead pricing that comes with someone who has to charge enough to live on it alone.
